The Los Angeles Rams are parting ways with kicker Harrison Mevis less than 24 hours after he went 0-for-2 on field-goal attempts in a 37-34 loss to the Buffalo Bills, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo report.
The Rams are signing kicker Blake Grupe off the New York Jets' practice squad to replace Mevis.
After Monday night's loss, head coach Sean McVay promised to "evaluate everything" with the field-goal unit. He added that the kicking game "cost us the game."
Mevis missed his first field goal on the Rams' opening drive, hooking a 50-yard attempt wide left. His final kick could have won the game in overtime, but the 48-yard try was blocked by the Bills, who went on to kick the decisive field goal on the ensuing drive.
Mevis has struggled this season; he's knocked in just five of his nine field-goal tries. Los Angeles signed the 24-year-old in November 2025, and he performed well over the second half of the season, converting 92.3% of his field-goal attempts (12/13) and 100% of his extra-point tries (39/39).
Meanwhile, Grupe owns a career 81.9% field-goal success rate. He began last year with the New Orleans Saints, though he ended up being released midseason after missing eight kicks in 26 attempts. However, the Indianapolis Colts picked him up soon afterward, and he made all of his 11 attempts with the team.
The Rams sit 2-3 in the NFC West, behind the San Francisco 49ers (5-0) and Seattle Seahawks (3-2).
