Chicago Bears defensive end Montez Sweat has been suspended two games for violating the NFL's performance-enhancing substances policy, the league announced Tuesday, according to the Chicago Tribune's Brad Biggs.
Sweat will miss Sunday's game against the Atlanta Falcons and the Bears' Week 7 contest versus the New England Patriots.
Sweat, who's collected two sacks this season, will be eligible for reinstatement Oct. 23, according to The Athletic's Dan Wiederer. He's also tallied seven tackles, four QB hits, and two tackles for loss this year - his fourth campaign with the Bears.
The 30-year-old, who is Chicago's highest-paid player, carries a $25.08-million cap hit this season, according to Over the Cap.
Sweat had an impressive 2025 season in which he racked up 10 sacks and 13 TFLs.
The Bears may be thin at edge rusher with Sweat sidelined over the next couple of weeks. Dayo Odeyingbo left last week's loss to the Green Bay Packers with a quad injury. Austin Booker, who has four sacks this season, will likely see more snaps in Sweat's absence.
Chicago activated defensive lineman Shemar Turner from the physically unable to perform list Tuesday to take Sweat's spot on the 53-man roster.
