The San Jose Sharks have locked up their new defenseman, Michael Kesselring, on a three-year deal worth $4.5 million per season, sources told Sportsnet.
San Jose acquired Kesselring in a trade with the Buffalo Sabres on Wednesday ahead of the NHL draft. The Sharks traded the 20th overall pick in exchange for Kesselring and the No. 27 pick.
Kesselring was a pending restricted free agent.
The 26-year-old disappointed in his lone season in Buffalo, recording two assists in 34 regular-season games. He was a healthy scratch for 12 of the team's 13 playoff contests.
Kesselring had a career-best season in 2024-25, tallying seven goals and 22 assists with the Utah Mammoth.
