The Carolina Hurricanes talked to the Florida Panthers about trading for goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky at the 2026 NHL trade deadline, league sources confirmed to The Athletic's Pierre LeBrun.

The Panthers reportedly asked for a first-round pick for Bobrovsky, which the Hurricanes weren't willing to pay.

Bobrovsky struggled in 2025-26, posting an .877 save percentage in 52 games as Florida finished seventh in the Atlantic Division. However, the future Hall of Famer backstopped the Panthers to back-to-back Stanley Cups in 2024 and 2025.

The 37-year-old is a pending unrestricted free agent. His contract in 2025-26 carried a 16-team no-trade list. It's unclear if Carolina was on it.

The Hurricanes ultimately didn't address their goaltending at the deadline, but Frederik Andersen was excellent in the first three rounds of the playoffs to bring Carolina to the Stanley Cup Final. Brandon Bussi replaced Andersen midway through Game 3 and got the win in Tuesday's Game 4.
