The Toronto Maple Leafs traded goaltender Samuel Ersson to the Ottawa Senators for a fifth-round draft pick in 2027, the teams announced Friday.

The Maple Leafs acquired Ersson from the Philadelphia Flyers earlier this offseason in a trade that sent Joseph Woll the other way. Ersson is a restricted free agent this summer and is coming off a rough campaign in which he posted a .870 save percentage in 33 appearances.

Ersson's qualifying offer is worth $1.6 million, according to PuckPedia.

Goaltending depth was a significant issue for the Senators last season, as they used five different netminders. Ottawa still managed to qualify for the playoffs despite inconsistency in the crease.

The Maple Leafs now own two fifth-rounders in 2027 and 14 over the next two drafts. Toronto will make the first overall pick at Friday's event.
