The Atlanta Braves evened their National League Division Series with the Los Angeles Dodgers after defeating the reigning World Series champions 3-2 in Game 2 on Sunday.
Michael Harris II led the Braves offense with a three-hit game and ended up a home run shy of the cycle.
Six Braves pitchers combined to allow two runs, including Raisel Iglesias, who retired Josue De Paula to secure the one-out save. Two-time Cy Young winner Blake Snell lasted just 3 2/3 innings after starting for Los Angeles.
Ray Kerr opened for the Braves and continued his stellar postseason, allowing two hits and striking out four over 2 2/3 innings. The 32-year-old southpaw threw 3 1/3 scoreless frames against the Philadelphia Phillies as an opener in the wild-card round.
"It's what I do. That's all I can explain," Kerr told John Smoltz of Fox Sports during a postgame interview. "I've been a sleeping beast for the last two years, so now I'm going to leave it all out on the field."
Kerr added: "I thrive in these kind of moments. Do-or-die situations, I love them. I've always loved them since I was a kid in high school when we had 15 errors every game, so I learned to block out errors and just keep pitching."
Rookie Didier Fuentes also came up big for the Braves, tossing 3 2/3 innings of one-run ball. His only blemish was a late homer to Max Muncy with two outs in the ninth.
Freddie Freeman's solo homer in the fourth was the only other run for the Dodgers, who were 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position.
On Tuesday, Chris Sale and Yoshinobu Yamamoto are scheduled to pitch Game 3 in Atlanta starting at 6:00 p.m. ET.
