Surging Orioles lose Rutschman to IL due to wrist injury

The Baltimore Orioles placed All-Star catcher Adley Rutschman on the 10-day injured list due to left wrist inflammation, the club announced Monday.

Rutschman's injury comes amid the Orioles' season-high seven-game winning streak.

The 28-year-old has gone deep eight times with 47 RBIs and a .764 OPS across 67 games during a bounce-back season. He's already been on the IL twice due to ankle inflammation and a concussion.

Baltimore will be also be missing catcher Samuel Basallo to start its three-game series with the Boston Red Sox, who are winners of 13 straight games and 18 out of their last 20. The 21-year-old is dealing with a shoulder issue.

The Orioles selected the contract of catcher Chadwick Tromp to fill Rutschman's spot on the active roster. Outfielder Rudy Martin was designated for assignment.
