The Detroit Tigers placed reliever Kenley Jansen on the 15-day injured list with pelvic inflammation, the team announced Thursday.
Jansen exited Wednesday's 4-0 victory over the Los Angeles Angels in the ninth inning due to the injury. He left the field with two outs on the board after signaling to the Tigers' dugout.
Detroit recalled left-handed pitcher Drew Sommers in a corresponding move.
The 38-year-old Jansen carries a 4.80 ERA over 18 appearances this season. He's racked up seven saves, 19 strikeouts, and nine walks across 15 innings.
Starting pitcher Casey Mize also injured his groin Wednesday and later underwent an MRI, though there's been no word on his status going forward.
