Dallas Stars defenseman Miro Heiskanen sustained an upper-body injury in Tuesday's win over the Washington Capitals and didn't return.
Heiskanen left the game after logging just one shift in the second period. It's unclear when the injury occurred.
Stars head coach Glen Gulutzan said Heiskanen will be evaluated Wednesday, and the club is hopeful the injury isn't as serious as it initially thought, according to Lia Assimakopoulos of Dallas Morning News.
Heiskanen entered the game with 11 points in 14 games while averaging nearly 26 minutes per contest. The 27-year-old finished eighth in Norris Trophy voting last season after registering 63 points in 77 appearances.
The Stars defeated the Capitals 6-5 to improve to 9-5-1 this season.
