The Winnipeg Jets' suspension of goaltender Connor Hellebuyck is scheduled to end Oct. 23, making him eligible to return to the club, sources told Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman.
Hellebuyck informed the Jets prior to their first game Oct. 2 that he intended to rejoin the team, Friedman reports. However, because he'd already missed training camp without permission, he was subject to a suspension, which reportedly ends next Friday.
It's not clear how the Jets or Hellebuyck intend to handle the end of the suspension.
The goaltender has forfeited nearly 10% of his season salary since Winnipeg began its campaign without him.
Hellebuyck requested a trade after the 2025-26 season and went public with his demand in August. Jets general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff said during training camp that he won't rush a trade involving the three-time Vezina Trophy winner and noted that he hasn't received any adequate offers.
The Carolina Hurricanes and Los Angeles Kings are among the teams that have reportedly inquired about Hellebuyck, who's under contract through 2031 at an $8.5-million cap hit.
The Jets have started the season 4-1-2.
