The Buffalo Sabres signed forward Noah Ostlund to an eight-year contract extension worth $6.6 million per season on Monday.
The deal kicks in for the 2027-28 campaign. Ostlund appeared in 60 games as a rookie for the Sabres last season, notching 27 points.
The 22-year-old added two points in three playoff games before sustaining an injury that kept him out of the lineup as Buffalo reached Game 7 of Round 2.
Drafted 16th overall by the Sabres in 2022, Ostlund was scheduled for restricted free agency next summer before inking the extension. The deadline to sign players to eight-year deals is Tuesday, as the NHL's new collective bargaining agreement takes effect and limits contract length to seven years.
Buffalo has awarded long-term contracts to several young, key pieces of its roster this offseason, with Zach Benson and Josh Doan each signing seven-year deals.
