The Ottawa Senators are re-signing forward Claude Giroux, reports Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman.

Giroux tallied 14 goals and 49 points in all 82 games last season. He's been with his hometown Senators since 2022.

The 38-year-old had been linked to the Philadelphia Flyers and Toronto Maple Leafs since becoming an unrestricted free agent July 1. Giroux was drafted by the Flyers and played 15 seasons in Philadelphia.

The Senators have $5 million of projected cap space before inking Giroux, according to PuckPedia.

Giroux has 85 goals and 242 points in 327 games over four seasons in Ottawa. He had 379 goals and 1,165 points in 1,345 career contests with the Flyers, Florida Panthers, and Senators.

Ottawa traded captain Brady Tkachuk to Florida and acquired forward William Eklund from the San Jose Sharks in June. The Senators have also added goaltender Samuel Ersson and forward Andre Burakovsky this offseason.
