Report: Leafs to interview Sundin for hockey operations role

The Toronto Maple Leafs will meet with the Mats Sundin about a job in the team's hockey department, according to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet.

Sundin, the Maple Leafs' all-time leading scorer, is reportedly in Toronto to discuss a potential advisory role.

The Hall of Famer has already met with MLSE president Keith Pelley at least once, per Friedman.

Sundin worked as a Swedish TV analyst for the 2026 Winter Olympics. He was also part of Team Sweden's management at the 2016 World Cup of Hockey.

The Leafs are looking for a new head of hockey operations after firing general manager Brad Treliving on March 30.

Toronto finished last in the Atlantic Division and 28th overall to end its run of nine straight seasons with a playoff appearance.
