Cam Skattebo is expected to return to the New York Giants' running back mix against the Houston Texans after a "good week" of practice, coach John Harbaugh said Friday, according to ESPN's Jordan Raanan.
The second-year back didn't carry the ball and spent most of Sunday's 34-27 loss to the New Orleans Saints on the bench.
"It's been good, you know. I think I got taught a lesson," Skattebo said. "I don't know if that's from them or from myself, but I kind of had to step back and look at it and figure out why I was doing the things I was doing, what was happening. Came to practice, corrected those things, worked on them. Ready to go back out there and play ball."
Skattebo' snaps were limited after he fumbled in overtime during a Week 5 tie with the Washington Commanders. It was the 24-year-old's fifth career fumble in 13 games.
Harbaugh praised Skattebo and the other members of the Giants' running back group for their preparation ahead of Sunday's game in Houston.
"He was always going to be a big part of our season," Harbaugh said of Skattebo. "And he had a heck of a week of practice; all the backs did."
Skattebo is expected to split carries with Tyrone Tracy Jr. against the Texans, Raanan added. Devin Singletary is another option for the Giants after veteran running back Najee Harris was released Tuesday.
