The Los Angeles Rams expect star receiver Puka Nacua to play in Thursday's season opener against the San Francisco 49ers in Melbourne, Australia, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Head coach Sean McVay said that the two-time Pro Bowler, who's been dealing with psoas soreness, is "making good progress," Sarah Barshop of ESPN reports.
"Been hitting some high-speed yards at a really good clip with (head athletic trainer) Reggie (Scott) and his group," McVay added. "And when we get back out there, it'll be fun to have him."
McVay also said that he doesn't believe Nacua or Alaric Jackson will face discipline under the league's code of conduct policy prior to Thursday.
"Yeah, absolutely," McVay said when asked about Nacua's and Jackson's availability. "That's what I've heard. I haven't heard anything different."
In March, a woman in L.A. filed a lawsuit that alleged Nacua made an "unprovoked antisemitic statement" toward her and later bit her on the shoulder.
Jackson was arrested on a domestic violence charge in June. He wasn't charged with a felony and entered a prefiling diversion program as an alternative to misdemeanor criminal prosecution.
Last season, Nacua led the NFL in receptions (129) to go along with 1,715 receiving yards and 10 touchdown catches.
