Florida running back Jadan Baugh apologized to head coach Jon Sumrall via text message after the Gators' 45-17 loss to Missouri on Saturday.
"I'm sorry, coach. I won't let that happen again," Baugh's message to Sumrall read, according to ESPN's Mark Shlabach. "I didn't play my best."
Baugh earned early Heisman Trophy buzz through Florida's first four games. The junior had rushed for at least 130 yards in each outing and had racked up 11 touchdowns ahead of Saturday's matchup. Yet Missouri limited him to 13 yards on 12 carries.
Baugh ripped off a 12-yard run to start the game but lost yards on his next five carries.
Missouri's defensive game plan focused on slowing down the electric Baugh after allowing Mississippi State's Fluff Bothwell to run for 122 yards the previous week.
Sumrall credited Baugh for taking accountability but suggested the offense's struggles against the Tigers were more widespread.
"We didn't do enough to help him as a team on Saturday in my opinion, and I don't think he was his best either," Sumrall said.
The Gators finished with 42 rushing yards and 283 passing yards against Missouri. Florida's 17 points marked the team's lowest scoring output since being held to 11 by Tennessee in November 2025.
Florida will look to rebound Saturday against South Carolina.
