Stephen Curry never thought the opportunity of playing with LeBron James was anything more than a dream, but now that it's a realistic possibility, the Golden State Warriors star recognizes how special it would be.
"Up until probably two, three years ago, that was like a pipe-dream question or even a thought," Curry said Thursday at the Edgewood Tahoe golf course in Nevada, according to ESPN's Anthony Slater. "But that's part of the allure. Him going into his 24th season, me going into my 18th, the battles we've had, that would be such a unique story in NBA history, in sports history. But a little premature right now to talk about it."
The NBA is awaiting James' decision on his next team after he announced that he wouldn't return to the Los Angeles Lakers for the 2026-27 season. The Warriors are among his suitors with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat, Denver Nuggets, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Philadelphia 76ers also reportedly in the mix.
The Warriors reportedly have slight optimism they can lure James but are wary of the Cavaliers as a potential top suitor, Slater adds. Curry and LeBron have apparently communicated this week while Draymond Green is on vacation with the 41-year-old, sources told Slater.
James and Curry famously battled over four consecutive NBA Finals from 2014-18 with the Warriors claiming three titles.
