New York Knicks big man Mitchell Robinson is unlikely to return next season, a source told Stefan Bondy of The New York Post.

The 7-foot center is an unrestricted free agent after spending the first eight seasons of his career in the Big Apple.

While Knicks owner James Dolan said he would prefer to keep the group together, he's been adamant about avoiding the second apron, calling it a "suicidal" move.

Still, Robinson is hopeful he'll return to the only NBA club he's ever played for.

"We can see what happens," Robinson told reporters Thursday, per WGNO-TV. "It would be great ... to run it back again. Try to go back-to-back ... defending champs, that's very (much) a possibility."

Robinson averaged 5.7 points, 8.8 boards, and 1.2 blocks across 60 appearances last season. He finished eighth in Sixth Man of the Year voting.

New York selected Robinson with the No. 36 overall pick in 2018.
