The Memphis Grizzlies picked Duke forward Cameron Boozer with the third overall selection in Tuesday's first round of the NBA draft.

Boozer makes the jump to the NBA on the heels of a decorated season with the Blue Devils. He became just the fifth freshman to be named The Associated Press' men's national player of the year. He also earned consensus first-team All-American and ACC Player of the Year honors, among several other accolades.

The 18-year-old is a polished and versatile forward who boasts NBA-ready strength and a high basketball IQ.

Boozer is an efficient three-level scorer who served as the offensive centerpiece for a Duke team littered with NBA-bound players. He's a skilled passer for his size, excels in pick-and-roll scenarios and spotting outlets in transition, and has a soft touch around the basket. He developed into a reliable perimeter threat for the Blue Devils as well.

He's also solid on the boards and uses his physicality to his advantage in the post. There are doubts about how Boozer's lack of vertical explosiveness will translate to the pros, though he fits the profile of a high-impact offensive hub who makes those around him better.

Boozer is the son of two-time NBA All-Star Carlos Boozer.
