UFC 330: Makhachev vs. Garry results, analysis

UFC 330 took place Saturday night at Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia. In the main event, Islam Makhachev defeated Ian Machado Garry to retain the welterweight title. theScore's Nick Baldwin provided live results and analysis throughout the card.

Makhachev retains welterweight belt

Islam Makhachev defended his welterweight championship for the first time with a hard-fought 49-46, 49-46, 48-47 unanimous decision over Ian Machado Garry. With his 17th straight victory, Makhachev broke Anderson Silva's record for the longest winning streak in UFC history. Makhachev now has successful title defenses in both the lightweight and welterweight divisions.

Dern records 1st title defense

Mackenzie Dern defeated Gillian Robertson to notch her first defense of the UFC strawweight championship, winning a 49-46, 49-46, 48-47 unanimous decision in the co-main event. Dern controlled the fight from outset and never faced danger from her Canadian counterpart.

Turner scores lightning-fast KO

Lightweight contender Jalin Turner made quick work of Kaue Fernandes, knocking him out 39 seconds into their lightweight bout.

Turner dropped Fernandes with a lethal left hand and then finished the job with ground-and-pound.

The 31-year-old scored his second straight first-round knockout after finishing Edson Barboza at UFC 323 last December. Turner is 3-2 in his last five outings and said in his postfight interview he hopes to be ranked in the division again next week.

Fernandes fell to 3-2 in the promotion. The 31-year-old Brazilian was riding a three-fight winning streak coming in.

Stoltzfus submits Abdul-Malik in barn burner

The underdogs keep barking at UFC 330.

Middleweight Dustin Stoltzfus walked away with a submission victory after a back-and-forth slugfest with Mansur Abdul-Malik. He locked in a rear-naked choke at the 4:25 mark of the second round.

Stoltzfus and Abdul-Malik traded blows on the feet throughout the fight before Stoltzfus rocked Abdul-Malik with heavy shots, took him down, and secured the choke.

With the victory, Stoltzfus rebounded from back-to-back losses to Kelvin Gastelum and Nursulton Ruziboev and got his hand raised for the first time since November 2024.

Abdul-Malik has lost two in a row after getting knocked out by Yousri Belgaroui in March.

Barboza retires after TKO loss to Ribovics

Edson Barboza retired from mixed martial arts after suffering a devastating TKO loss to Esteban Ribovics.

Ribovics bloodied and battered Barboza in the stand-up department before referee Herb Dean called off the bout at the 1:32 mark of the second round.

"I give my best every single day. Every single fight. I promise," an emotional Barboza said in his postfight interview before laying his gloves on the ground, signaling the end of his career.

Barboza, a longtime lightweight contender, struggled in the final chapter of his career, losing four in a row, including a knockout against Jalin Turner last December. But in his prime, the 40-year-old Brazilian beat several top names and delivered some of the sport's greatest highlights, including an iconic wheel-kick knockout of Terry Etim in 2012.

Barboza finishes his MMA run with a 24-15 professional record.

Ribovics rebounded from a submission loss to Mateusz Gamrot in April and has now alternated wins and losses in his last four outings. The 30-year-old Argentinian improved to 16-3 as a pro.

Njokuani stuns Alvarez

Chidi Njokuani pulled off the upset against Joel Alvarez, winning their welterweight bout via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28).

Njokuani picked Alvarez apart on the feet in what turned out to be a rather lackluster contest.

The 37-year-old snapped a two-fight skid and picked up his first victory since March 2025.

Alvarez, a 33-year-old from Spain, suffered his second straight loss, falling to 8-3 in the Octagon.

A Scottish twister!

Charles Johnson pulled off one of the newest - and rarest - submissions in MMA.

The flyweight tapped out Eduardo Chapolin with a Scottish twister at the 1:36 mark of the third round. It was the second Scottish twister in UFC history.

Johnson overcame a knockdown in the second round to secure his latest victory. Chapolin dropped him with a left hook and appeared to be at least somewhat in control heading into the final round.

Johnson has now alternated wins and losses in his last seven fights. Notably, he holds a 2024 knockout win over current champion Joshua Van.

Chapolin stepped in on four days' notice. The 30-year-old Brazilian's two-fight winning streak came to an end. Chapolin competed on "The Ultimate Fighter 33" and Dana White's Contender Series last year.

Johnson flattens McConico

Donte Johnson scored a highlight-reel knockout in his middleweight tilt against Eric McConico, flooring his opponent with a blistering left hand.

The finish came at the 1:38 mark of the first round.

Johnson improved to 3-0 in the UFC and 9-0 as a professional with the victory. The 27-year-old submitted Sedriques Dumas in his debut last November and then earned a decision over Cody Brundage in March.

McConico has now alternated wins and losses in his five Octagon bouts, falling to 2-5. The 36-year-old sits at 11-5-1 as a pro.

Gore takes decision over Luque

Tresean Gore took home a unanimous decision win over Vicente Luque in a back-and-forth middleweight bout.

The judges scored the fight 30-27, 30-27, and 29-28 in Gore's favor.

Gore landed the more impactful punches throughout the encounter. He hurt Luque in the first round and also attempted a submission in the second round. Luque had his own fair share of offense, including a tight D'Arce choke in the second, but Gore clearly did enough to win the fight on the judges' scorecards.

The 32-year-old is now riding a two-fight winning streak and lifted his professional record to 7-4.

Luque fell to 1-3 in his last four Octagon appearances. The 34-year-old Brazilian's lone win during that stretch was a submission of Kelvin Gastelum in April.

Fernando earns brutal TKO in debut

Lucas Fernando delivered an impressive performance in his first trip to the Octagon.

The light heavyweight prospect sent Rafael Tobias crumbling to the mat with a devastating knee and scored a TKO finish at the 1:10 mark of the third round.

Fernando, 29, is now riding a five-fight winning streak. He signed with the UFC after four straight wins under the LFA banner, including a first-round finish in May.

Tobias, 23, fell to 0-2 in the promotion after suffering a unanimous decision loss in his debut in March.

Magny turns back the clock

Neil Magny picked up his 25th UFC win, finishing Ramiz Brahimaj via TKO at the 3:20 mark of the second round.

Magny is now tied with former lightweight champion Charles Oliveira for the second-most wins in promotion history, trailing just Jim Miller (28).

The 39-year-old spent much of the fight on bottom and defending submissions, but he turned the tide in the second round when he reversed the position and got on top of Brahimaj. Magny then finished Brahimaj with strikes up against the fence.

With the victory, Magny rebounded from a submission loss to Yaroslav Amosov last December. He's 3-1 in his last four Octagon outings.

Brahimaj, 33, is now riding a two-fight skid.

Wells pulls off wild comeback

Underdog Jeremiah Wells proved the oddsmakers wrong in the curtain jerker, rallying to put Myktybek Orolbai to sleep with a guillotine choke. The finish came at the 1:24 mark of the third round.

Wells, 39, said in his postfight interview that he's contemplating retiring from MMA.

Orolbai dominated Wells with wrestling in the first two rounds before Wells stunned him with the submission. Wells is now riding a two-fight winning streak and is 6-2 in the UFC.

Orolbai's three-fight winning streak ended. The 28-year-old suffered his first loss since facing Mateusz Rebecki in a Fight of the Year candidate in October 2024 and first defeat since moving up to the welterweight division in 2025.

Prefight notes

Makhachev is defending the 170-pound title for the first time. The 34-year-old Dagestani won the belt at UFC 322 last November in a lopsided victory over Jack Della Maddalena. That marked Makhachev's first Octagon appearance at welterweight following a dominant lightweight title reign, during which he recorded four defenses.

With a victory over Garry, Makhachev will set a new record for the longest winning streak in UFC history (17), surpassing Anderson Silva, who has held the record since 2010.

Garry is looking to become Ireland's first UFC champion since Conor McGregor. The No. 2-ranked welterweight earned the title shot with back-to-back wins over former champion Belal Muhammad and Carlos Prates. Garry, 28, is 10-1 in the promotion, with his lone loss coming against Shavkat Rakhmonov in 2024.
